Former Vikings WR Dropped by Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have been virtually eliminated from postseason contention, 3-10 after Week 13, and are currently holding the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if the event occurred today. The Cardinals, however, did score an impressive victory on Sunday, chipping off the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10 at Acrisure Stadium. Former Vikings WR Dropped by Cardinals The day after, Arizona conducted some roster maintenance, with one move involving former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and special teams gunner Dan Chisena. KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson tweeted, “Cardinals waived Dan Chisena.” ImageAug 14, 2022; Paradise, Nevada, USA; Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Dan Chisena (85) makes a reception against Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Chris Jones (41) during a preseason game at Allegiant Stadium. The speedster didn’t last long in Arizona, signing on the team’s dotted line 10 days ago. Chisena was even activated to the gameday roster Sunday against the Steelers, but at least for now, he’s the odd man out. He joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in January, and his stay lasted about seven months. Minnesota welcomed Chisena via undrafted free agency in April 2020. Chisena played in all 12 of the Nittany Lions games as a senior and caught three passes for 66 yards. With the Vikings, Chisena was renowned for special teams. When Mike Zimmer ran the Vikings, Chisena experienced playing time in 25 games, including 471 snaps on special teams, with 11 offensive plays. In 2022 with Kevin O’Connell in charge, though, Chisena’s special teams role was clearly diminished, seeing action on just 24 plays early in the season in games against the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders. After that activation from the practice squad, that was it for Chisena on the 2022 active roster. The former Nittany Lion is known for speed, speed, and more speed, recording a 4.32 forty-yard dash during the buildup to the 2020 NFL Draft. He was teammates with Saquon Barkley, Mike Gesicki, Micah Parsons, and Miles Sanders at Penn State. Arizona employs one other former Viking, offensive lineman Pat Elflein, although Elflein is on injured reserve. The Vikings play the Cardinals next in 2024 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
