Titans News: Titans make perfect picks in ESPN mock draft

If you were to poll Tennessee Titans fans, it’s a safe bet that the majority of them would take a left tackle and wide receiver with the team’s first two selections in the 2024 NFL draft. After all, those are the two biggest needs Tennessee has this offseason. If you’re in that camp, you’ll love this mock draft from ESPN’s Matt Miller, which has the Titans taking Notre Dame left tackle Joe Alt and Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in the first two rounds of April’s draft. First, the write-up on the Alt pick: With teams rushing to grab top quarterbacks and receivers, the Titans are able to sit tight at No. 7 and still land the best left tackle in the class. Alt is a pro-ready starter with three years of experience at Notre Dame. At 6-foot-8 and 322 pounds, the 20-year-old is a bully in the run game, but his real value is in pass protection, where he allowed one sack and just four pressures in 2023. The Titans could look at wide receivers if one falls, but Alt is the no-brainer choice for me, especially after Tennessee took 64 sacks during the regular season (tied for fourth most). And now, the write-up on Mitchell: The Titans lack a future WR1; Treylon Burks has struggled to live up to his first-round billing, and veteran DeAndre Hopkins will be 32 years old next season. Mitchell is a 6-foot-4 wideout with really good separating ability that showed on tape to the tune of 11 touchdowns and 41 first-down receptions for the Longhorns in 2023. He is at his best on vertical routes, which matches up well with the arm talent of Titans quarterback Will Levis. Alt is a home run pick to fill Tennessee’s need at left tackle and I’m giddy at the thought of him learning under an elite offensive line coach like Bill Callahan. Mitchell checks the box of a potential long-term solution at WR1 and won’t have too much on his plate in Year 1, assuming the Titans keep DeAndre Hopkins and sign a veteran wideout in free agency like they should. If things play out that way, the Titans’ wide receivers room could look something like this: WR1: DeAndre Hopkins WR2: Veteran free agent WR3: Adonai Mitchell WR4: Treylon Burks WR5: Kyle Philips WR6: Chris Moore (if re-signed) Sign me up.
