Texans News: 3 more teams request interviews with Texans OC Bobby Slowik

Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is gaining a lot of interest in the NFL head coach hiring cycle this offseason. Three more teams reportedly requested to interview Slowik: The Tennessee Titans, the Washington Commanders and the Atlanta Falcons, according to multiple reports. These requests would mean four different teams want to speak with Slowik after the Carolina Panthers reportedly reached out earlier this week. These interviews won’t take place until at least three days after the Texans’ wildcard match with the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, according to NFL rules. These preliminary interviews also can only be conducted virtually until after the divisional round. Slowik also recently said he isn’t focused on those interview requests right now. Slowik has done a lot this season to garner so much attention from teams in search of a new head coach. He helped orchestrate what will likely be an Offensive Rookie of the Year season for quarterback C.J. Stroud and built an offense that finished seventh in passing yards, 12th in total yards and 13th in points – all in his first year as an offensive play-caller. Slowik’s done all this at the age of 36, too, with a relatively young coaching staff around him as well. Stroud is the engine that makes the Texans go, but the ancillary players around the quarterback have been solid as well. Nico Collins broke out as a 1,000-yard receiver, rookie Tank Dell looked incredible before a season-ending leg injury, Devin Singletary powered the running game and tight end Dalton Schultz was an effective safety net as a pass-catcher. Will all of that be enough for Slowik to get a head coaching job after just one year as an offensive coordinator? We’ll see. It depends on what each team is looking for in a new head coach and what Slowik wants out of his career. Email Sign up Like this article?
