Steelers News: Browns QB Deshaun Watson takes shot at Steelers defense

Deshaun Watson raised the topic of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense on the April 5 episode of his QB Unplugged podcast and spoke like someone who’s handled it in the past. “The biggest thing is get the defense in what we want to get the defense in, and that’s a base defense, especially a team like Pittsburgh,” Watson said. “When they’re in base defense, they don’t play too many coverages. It’s very limited on what they’re doing. They kind of very schemed to how they play.” “So once we had this situation, alright cool, we got them exactly how we want it, and then you just run the play and react.” That’s some big talk from a guy who has never defeated the Steelers in the three times faced in his career (twice with Houston Texans, once with Browns). He’s thrown five touchdowns to four interceptions and averaged 243 yards. As for “reacting,” the Steelers have sacked Watson 11 times. Watson is working his way back from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the second half of the 2023 season. He’s yet to play a full season since Cleveland mortgaged the farm to acquire him in 2022.
