Seahawks News: Rams DT Aaron Donald announces retirement

Today is a day for Seattle Seahawks fans to celebrate! After a decade of terror, Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald has decided to finally retire. Donald has flirted with retirement for a few seasons now, but at long last decided to stop teasing everyone and made it official. And with the news, came a collective sigh of relief across the Pacific Northwest. Rams DT Aaron Donald has announced his retirement. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 15, 2024 To say Donald will be a first ballot Hall of Famer is an understatement. For a decade he was arguably the best defensive player in the league. Donald was a Pro Bowler in each of his ten seasons, was first team All Pro in eight of them, and won Defensive Player of the Year honors three times. His three DPOY awards are tied with JJ Watt and Lawrence Taylor for most in league history by one player. Donald also finishes his career with 111 career sacks, with his high water mark coming in 2018 with 20.5 alone. Of course against the Seahawks, Donald had 70 total tackles and 15.5 sacks. Donald helped to make games against the Rams pure misery for the last decade. There was hardly a moment where he didn’t make his presense known. He was even responsible for Russell Wilson breaking his finger in 2021 causing him to miss games for the first time in his career. While there are plenty of well wishers for Donald in retirement, it is safe to say the 12th Man is not among them. They’ll be too busy enjoying their liberation champagne today.
