Saints sign UDFA Kyle Hergel

Image Photo by Rich von Biberstein/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images What to know about the new Saints offensive lineman. The New Orleans Saints have signed Kyle Hergel, an offensive lineman from Boston College, as an undrafted free agent. He is one of 15 UDFA’s for the Saints. Before attending Boston College, Hergal attended Texas State from 2021-2022, and North Dakota from 2018-2021. He has 54 career starts in that span, allowing only five sacks and 32 pressures. Hergel plays on the interior, and even has some experience at center, as he played there during the East-West Shrine Bowl. He was named the FCS newcomer of the year in 2019, All-Sun Belt second team in 2022, All-Sun Belt third team in 2022, and was an All-ACC honorable mention in 2023. The Toronto native stands at 6’2’’ and weighs 315 pounds. Hergel was selected third overall in the 2024 Canadian Football League draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Scouting reports say that Hergal has natural leverage, thrives on physicality, and has good awareness. We’ll get our first look at the Canadian at rookie minicamp, which runs from May 10-12.
