Saints Sit/Start: Week 17

Image Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports Who do you start for the play-off spot possibility? A playoff spot is on the line for the New Orleans Saints. Last Thursday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams changed the Saints’ fate. The final two weeks of the regular season will be win-or-go-home for them. Even if they win out, the Saints (7-8) will not guarantee a postseason spot. In addition to beating the Bucs and Falcons, they must also hope some other things fall their way. Depending on where you stand on the Saints’ chances, will determine who you decide to rely on for your fantasy roster. Let’s take a look at who to start this week versus the previous weeks of “sit” status players. Note: This list can change and is purely an opinion based on roster evaluation. Alvin Kamara: Sit After being added to the injury report at the end of the week (illness), Kamara now has two days to recuperate before the Saints play a game that they need to win to make the playoffs. If Kamara ends up inactive ahead of the 1:00 p.m. start this Sunday, most of the backfield snaps will likely go to Jamaal Williams. Jamaal Williams: Start Due to Kamara’s possible inactivity due to illness, Williams will likely take most of the running snaps on Sunday. The pressure of the run game will fall on Williams if Kamara is not cleared because Kendre Miller is also questionable. Derek Carr: Start Despite his ups and downs this season, Carr has scored 20 or more fantasy points in two consecutive games. His top two receivers, Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, should help Carr against a Buccaneers defense that ranks eighth in fantasy points allowed. Chris Olave: Start With Michael Thomas out and these next two being the pinnacle wins, expect Olave to see touches against Atlanta. Taysom Hill: Start In Thursday’s 30-22 loss to the Rams, Hill rushed twice for two yards and failed to record a target or pass attempt. Just 10 offensive snaps were recorded by Hill for the second straight week. For the team to make the playoffs, Hill will play a crucial role in racking up points and winning on Sunday. How do you think the Saints should play on Sunday? Do you think they should lose the next two games for draft picks or take the chance at making the playoffs and pursuing the big game?
