Derek Carr Suffers Concerning Injury In Loss To Lions

Image(Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images)   The New Orleans Saints looked like they were on their way to a blowout loss when they fell behind 21-0 in the first quarter to the Detroit Lions in their Week 13 matchup. Derek Carr drew boos from the crowd as the offense was forced to punt the football way on multiple occasions, though the Saints offense finally woke up after they converted on some rare red zone opportunities. New Orleans was threatening a comeback late in the second half, though things got derailed when Carr took a shot on a play from Detroit pass rusher Bruce Irvin. It was a huge hit and the trainer’s cart came out onto the field via Adam Schefter of ESPN. It was later announced that Carr was placed in concussion protocol as well was treated for back and shoulder injuries. This is the third time this season that the veteran has been hurt, but more concerning is this is the second time that he’s been forced to leave a game due to a concussion. Jameis Winston replaced Carr and the former starter nearly led the team to the comeback before an offensive drive stalled out. As of now, the Saints are awaiting updates on Carr’s condition though him starting Week 14 seems like a longshot.
