They’ve lost their last two games and can’t make it three. Another loss could be detrimental to any hopes of the Saints making the playoffs. Read below to see how the Saints match up against one of the top teams in the NFC. Detroit Lions Preview The Lions have one of the best records in the NFL, sitting at 8-3. They’re spearheaded by their potent offense, which is one of the best in the league. The team is led by QB Jared Goff, who has quietly been a top-ten QB in the league for the past two years. The former number-one overall pick shocked the world last year, boasting some of the best QB numbers in the NFL. This led him to make his third Pro Bowl. Goff has continued to flourish and is playing well once again. He couldn’t do this without his top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown. The former USC Trojan has quickly established himself as one of the best receivers in this league. He has 82 catches, 993 receiving yards, and five TDs. He’s easily one of the best physical receivers in the league, and his 13 contested catches rank first in the league. They’re led by DE Aidan Hutchinson and DT Alim McNeil on the other side of the ball. You’ve probably heard of Aidan Hutchinson, but I want to talk a bit about Mcneil. He’s quietly been one of the best DTs in football this season. He has five sacks, 16 stops, and 21 QB hits. He’s PFF’s highest-rated DT. New Orleans Saints Preview Disgusted... That’s the word I would use watching the Saints this past weekend. The offense was terrible. The defense played alright, considering how much they were on the field. Tyrann Mathieu picked off Falcons QB Desmond Ridder twice. The Saints could be without a ton of key players this week. Rashid Shaheed has already been ruled out, and multiple key players did not practice or were limited on Wednesday. The biggest problem with the Saints is that they don’t have an offensive identity. They don’t run the ball well or throw the ball well. They aren’t known for anything. In the last years of Drew Brees, the Saints were known for their potent short passing offense. If the team wants to turn things around, they need to find an identity. Who will win the game? The Lions should be walking out of the Superdome with a win. The Saints are bruised and battered from their game against the Falcons. This doesn’t bode well when they’re already the underdog in this matchup. Frankly, the Lions have more talent and are better coached than the Saints. The biggest challenge for the Saints will be to stop this Lions defensive line. The Saints have struggled tremendously to block on passing downs this year. They will have to do their very best to stop the Lions defensive line if they want to win.
