Saints offensive line update after Day 1 of OTA’s

Image A new look for the Saints Oline. The New Orleans Saints kicked off OTAs on Tuesday providing a lot of information about how the team plans on positioning the offensive line. Rookie tackle Taliese Fuaga lined up at left tackle, moving third-year tackle Trevor Penning to the right side. Newly signed guard Shane Lemieux shared snaps at left guard with second-year lineman Nick Saldiveri. Erick McCoy remains at center with Cesar Ruiz at right guard. Saints starting O-line at OTA No. 1:

LT Taliese Fuaga
LG Nick Saldiveri and Shane Lemieux
C Erik McCoy
RG Cesar Ruiz
RT Trevor Penning— Garland Gillen (@garlandgillen) May 21, 2024 Fuaga played right tackle in college but was moved to the left during rookie mini-camp and New Orleans likes him there. Trevor Penning struggled at left tackle during the 2023 season, so the team is looking toward their rookie to take over and Penning is now getting a shot at right tackle. Current right tackle Ryan Ramcyzk is dealing with a serious knee injury and his availability for the season is uncertain. Nick Saldiveri who drafted as the first pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and provides the Saints with the versatility to play every position on the line. Saldiveri only dressed for four games last season but appears to have impressed enough as he shares reps at left guard with the starters. New Orleans tried to re-sign veteran guard Andrus Peat earlier in the offseason, but he would leave to join the Las Vegas Raiders. The Saints offensive line was their biggest weakness last season, and the team has been determined to add and develop talent in the room. The team is currently testing the waters with players’ positioning and there's lots of room for changes between the start of OTAs and Week 1.
