The New Orleans Saints have an opponent win percentage of .453, tied only with the Atlanta Falcons. This makes it two years in a row that the strength of the schedule for the Saints is among the easiest in the league. Last year, the strength of the schedule was .427, ranking 31st in the NFL. The team unfortunately failed to capitalize on that opportunity, finishing the season at 9-8 and missing the playoffs. New Orleans will hope to rectify that mistake in 2024. How can they do that? In February, the Saints hired 49ers passing game coordinator Klint Kubiak as their new offensive coordinator. Just watch a clip of the 49ers offense from last year to get an idea of what the Saints offense of tomorrow looks like. The hiring of Kubiak was part of a massive overhaul to the offensive coaching staff. Tight end coach Clancy Barone and offensive assistant Jahri Evans are some of the few who remain from 2023’s offensive staff. Secondly, their defense is as good as ever and has even slightly improved. Last year it was already among the best in the NFL, and that returning cast of characters is really helping the next season’s outlook. The additions have also been good, with the drafting of Kool-Aid McKinstry and the signing of Chase Young being some of the highlights in that category. The opportunity that’s presenting itself to New Orleans right now is incredible, especially given the fact that this also happened last year. If the Saints can capitalize on this, they’ll have a season that ends in the playoffs.
