Saints have signed all but one of their rookie draft picks

Streamlining rookie contract negotiations is one bright side to the NFL’s modern collective bargaining agreements, at least from the team’s perspective. Because rookie deals are tied to draft slots and the salary cap, the New Orleans Saints don’t have to spend all summer haggling with each of their new players’ agents before agreeing to terms. As a result of that, six of their seven draft picks are going into rookie minicamp on Friday having put pens to paper. There’s just one rookie left to sign: second-round cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry. But it’s a safe bet that his contract will get inked before the Saints open training camp in July. Second rounders have become the last battleground between teams and agents, with players pushing to receive more guarantees in future years while teams want offset language to make it easier to get out of those deals. But it’s ultimately a low-stakes situation. Each of the Saints’ recent second round picks, linebacker Pete Werner and cornerback Alontae Taylor, both signed their contracts when rookies reported for training camp in mid-July.So here’s a quick look at those who have signed their deals:
