(If other, comment below)— Canal St. Chronicles (@SaintsCSC) May 6, 2024 After 240 votes, it was the Denver Broncos, earning 50% of the vote. The game against the Broncos will mark Sean Payton’s return to the Superdome after retiring as head coach of the Saints after the 2021 season. This will be Payton’s second season as coach of the Broncos after an underwhelming 2023 season. The Broncos are hoping #12 overall pick Bo Nix is their quarterback of the future, but come Week 1, I would be surprised if he is the starter and not Zach Wilson. This game would also welcome Pete Carmichael back to New Orleans, as Payton hired the longtime Saints offensive coordinator after he was let go earlier this year. The game against the Broncos would be one the Saints are likely favored to win, especially at home. So opening the year against Denver would provide the juicy storyline of Payton’s return and offer a good chance for the Saints to start 1-0. Receiving the second most votes were the rival Atlanta Falcons with 37.1%. Games against the Falcons are always entertaining, and it would be a good chance to see how they look with new quarterback Kirk Cousins. This would also be a good gauge of where the Saints stand in the NFC South, as the Falcons are currently the favorites to win the division. The 2024 NFL schedule is set to release on May 15th.
