  • If the Saints had played this way all season, they would be in the playoffs.
The New Orleans Saints played their final regular season game against the Atlanta Falcons and won in a big way. The game started a little rocky with the Atlanta Falcons scoring on their first drive. But after half time, the team was firing on all cylinders. The defense forced a fumble and two interceptions and held the Falcons scoreless. The offense scored 48 total points including 4 passing TDs by QB Derek Carr, to Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and 2 to rookie A.T. Perry, and rushing TDs from Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams. If the offense had been this in-sync earlier in the season, we would definitely be in the playoffs now. Image Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports 2. There is still a lot of off-season work to do for the Saints The Saints looked great in Sunday’s game, but there is still a lot of room to grow during the off season. The one upside to missing the playoffs, is securing draft stock. Due to their regular season record, the Saints have the 14th overall draft pick. This gives New Orleans the opportunity to pick up some big talent and fill in a few gaps come draft time. Besides loading roster talent, one of the most glaring off-season needs is a shake up on the coaching staff. What that will look like for the Saints, only time will tell.
