Saints Sit/Start Week 13

Image Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports Who to sit on the Saints against the Lions. Another week and possibly another week of disappointing lack of points for the New Orleans Saints. With the absence of WR Michael Thomas last week, the Saints suffered the loss of Olave who suffered a concussion against Atlanta. Although Carr threw for 300 yards, his overall performance still needs improvement. Unfortunately, if you have any of these players on your roster, you’re going to want to switch things up this week. This week is all about who to sit. Derek Carr- Sit Despite operating without Thomas and losing Olave against the Falcons, Carr completed 24 of 38 passes for 304 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He also racked up two rushes for seven yards in the Saints’ 24-15 loss against Atlanta. Coming from his Week 10 concussion, Carr performed better than expected but I suggest using a better option. Chris Olave- Sit Coach Dennis Allen said Olave remains in the concussion protocol as of Friday. However, there could be a chance he could clear it ahead of Sunday’s game against the Lions. Managing a roster with Olave on it this week should warrant an alternative option at wide receiver. Michael Thomas- Sit The Saints placed Thomas (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday. Nothing else to say about this one. Blake Grupe- Sit Although Grupe (groin) practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday, I wouldn’t expect him to return for Sunday’s game against the Lions considering the Saints have added Austin Siebert to the practice squad. Rashid Shaheed- Sit Shaheed (thigh) didn’t participate. Shaheed has opened Week 13 prep with back-to-back DNPs due to the quadriceps injury that he suffered this past Sunday in Atlanta. He’ll thus have only one more chance for on-field work this week before the Saints potentially make a ruling on his availability for Sunday’s game against the Lions. Saints Defense- Sit 3 key defensive players are suffering injuries: Cameron Jordan- Ankle is questionable, while Marcus Maye- Shoulder and Pete Werner- Shoulder/Oblique have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
