The New England Patriots offense struggled to start its Week 16 primetime game against the Denver Broncos, The unit turned the ball over on its very first play from scrimmage, and failed to gain a first down on its initial three possessions. In the late first quarter, however, it started to build some momentum — in large part due to a chunk play from quarterback Bailey Zappe to wide receiver Jalen Reagor: the two connected for a perfectly-executed hole shot down the left sideline to gain 28 yards on a 2nd-and-20. The play moved the Patriots into field goal range. And while they were unable to get much more out of it, they did gain some positive momentum at least. In addition, New England also cut into its 7-0 deficit: rookie kicker Chad Ryland split the uprights from 33 yards out to make it a 7-3 game in the early second period.
