Running back Kevin Harris reverts to Patriots’ practice squad following Week 15 elevation

Image David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports The South Carolina product’s second NFL touchdown arrived against the Chiefs. Kevin Harris has reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad after serving as a standard elevation Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 27-17 loss at Gillette Stadium marked the running back’s second call-up in as many weeks. It ended in the end zone. Harris, 23, saw his initial seven offensive snaps of the regular season after previously reverting without seeing one. With veteran Ezekiel Elliott again starting in the absence of Rhamondre Stevenson, who remained out due to a high ankle sprain, the South Carolina product stepped in to rush for 25 yards on four carries. An 18-yard touchdown was among them in the final quarter. Patriots RB Kevin Harris closes the gap in Foxboro.

And then got an opportunity to play yesterday and did a good job of stepping in there and giving us some solid play. So, those players that wait for that opportunity, work for that opportunity and then they get it, you don’t know exactly how it’s going to turn out. Some turn out better than others, but that was certainly a really competitive performance by Kevin.” Selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft at No. 183 overall, Harris spent his rookie year between the practice squad and active roster in Foxborough. The 5-foot-10, 225-pounder appeared in five games over that span, starting one. He finished the season with 18 carries for 52 yards to go with his first career touchdown. Fellow back JaMycal Hasty, a November waiver claim, made his Patriots debut in the kicking game on Sunday. In additional movement at the position, the organization reportedly plans to sign former Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft choice Ke’Shawn Vaughn to the practice squad.
