Patriots elevate running back Kevin Harris from practice squad for Week 15 against Chiefs

The New England Patriots have elevated running back Kevin Harris from the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. As first shared by ESPN’s Mike Reiss, it marks the second consecutive call-up for the South Carolina product. Harris, 23, was active but did not play a down in what became a 21-18 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The recent reversion had signed to the practice squad at its formation in August after clearing waivers at the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline. Landing in Foxborough in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft at No. 183 overall, Harris spent his rookie season between the practice squad and active roster, appearing in five games and starting one. The 5-foot-10, 225-pound back handled 18 carries over that span en route to 52 yards and one touchdown on the ground. With a high ankle sprain keeping starter Rhamondre Stevenson out for back-to-back games, veteran Ezekiel Elliott moves forward atop a Patriots backfield depth chart that also includes November waiver claim JaMycal Hasty. Last week, the three-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection played 52 out of 57 offensive snaps and finished with 140 yards from scrimmage to go with a visit to the end zone. New England added tight end Pharaoh Brown to the injury report on Saturday due to a foot issue. A total of eight now stand as questionable to face the reigning Super Bowl champions. Kickoff at Gillette Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
