Javon Baker becomes fourth Patriots draft pick to sign rookie deal

The process of getting the 2024 New England Patriots draft class under contract is halfway over. Javon Baker officially signed his rookie deal on Friday, the organization announced. The wide receiver by way of Alabama and Central Florida marks the fourth selection on the books in Foxborough. Selected in the fourth round at pick No. 110 overall, Baker appeared in 48 games during his run from the Crimson Tide to the Knights. Across a pair of seasons at the latter stop, he made 24 starts on the way to totaling 108 catches for 1,935 yards and 12 touchdowns. First-team All-Big 12 accolades were earned by Baker as a senior last fall while leading the team in receiving. The 22-year-old downfield threat attended the Reese’s Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine and was hosted by the Patriots on a pre-draft visit. His four-year, $4.836 million pact features $816,600 in signing bonus proration and begins with a $795,000 slotted base salary, per the accounting of PatsCap’s Miguel Benzan. New England previously agreed to terms with cornerback Marcellas Dial, quarterback Joe Milton III and tight end Jaheim Bell at the opening of rookie minicamp. Each had gotten the draft call after the 6-foot-1, 202-pound Baker did in April. With the final four down, the first four are left to go for the Patriots as organized team activities continue outside Gillette Stadium. Quarterback Drake Maye, wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, offensive tackle Caedan Wallace and guard Layden Robinson stand as the club’s unsigned selections.
