Patriots undrafted free agents tracker: Signings, rumors, analysis

Image Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports The draft is in the books. The scramble for rookie free agents has begun. With the 2024 NFL Draft coming to an end, teams have started turning their attention to undrafted free agency. For the New England Patriots, who still have 11 open spots on their 90-man roster, it projects to be a busy period. Given their long history of finding diamonds in the rough after the end of the seventh round, the Patriots will again be an attractive destination for unselected prospects. Yes, Bill Belichick is gone. Yes, the 19-year streak of at least one undrafted rookie making the opening day regular season roster came to an end last September. Nonetheless, even under new leadership from head coach Jerod Mayo, New England is likely to adhere to the Belichick principles of giving every player a fair shot — drafted or undrafted, veteran or rookie. Regardless of what will happen, we will track all of the news, rumors and eventual signings right here. Welcome to the 2024 Patriots Undrafted Free Agency Tracker. Patriots undrafted free agency signings OL Charles Turner (LSU): During his five years at LSU, Turner appeared in 44 games with 27 starts. While most of those saw him line up at center, the 22-year-old also started one contest each at left guard and right tackle. At 6-foot-4, 303 pounds with a massive 83 1/4-inch wingspan, he brings intriguing size to New England’s interior O-line. S Dell Pettus (Troy): A versatile defensive back who regularly moved between free safety, box safety and slot defender, Pettus offers plenty of experience: the All-Sun Belt second-team selection in 2023 started 61 consecutive games during his time at Troy. He also was a core special teamer, finishing his career with over 4,000 combined snaps. CB Mikey Victor (Alabama State): At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Victor brings size to the outside cornerback position. While not the fastest man on the football field, he still managed to intercept three passes in 19 games at Alabama State. Before joining the Hornet, he spent time at Ventura College and UNLV. ED John Morgan III (Arkansas): Morgan spent the first five years of his college career at Pittsburgh before transferring to Arkansas for his sixth and final season of eligibility. The 6-foot-1, 252-pounder appeared in 11 games as a Razorback — bringing his career total to 64 — and registered a pair of sacks. OT Zuri Henry (UTEP): During his six years with the Miners, Henry appeared in 52 contests and started games both at the left and the right tackle position. In addition to his versatility and experience, he also brings good size to the table at 6-foot-6, 310 pounds. RB DeShaun Fenwick (Oregon State): A bigger running back at 6-foot-1, 223 pounds, Fenwick split his six-year college career between South Carolina and Oregon State. A majority of his production came on the ground, and he left school with 386 carries for 2,049 yards and 18 touchdowns on his résumé. TE Jacob Warren (Tennessee): After drafting Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton in Round 6, the Patriots signed his former teammate in free agency. A three-year starter, Warren played 54 games as a Volunteer and caught 53 passes for 607 yards and eight touchdowns. However, the 6-foot-6, 251-pounder did most of his work as a blocker. CB Kaleb Ford-Dement (Texas State): Even though he is a bit on the smaller size, Ford-Dement’s athleticism more than makes up for it. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound defensive back also offers vast experience after spending two years at Kilgore College, two years at Old Dominion, two years at Washington State, and finally one season at Texas State. LB Jontrey Hunter (Georgia State): Hunter appeared in 52 games with 26 starts over the course of his six-year career at Georgia State. He offers good positional flexibility and size at 6-foot-2, 236 pounds, but is not the most electrifying athlete. LB Jett Bush (Texas): Bush played both on and off the line of scrimmage as well as in the kicking game during his five years at Texas. In total, the 6-foot-1, 240-pounder saw action in 58 games with six starts. In 2023, he scored a 43-yard pick-six. Patriots minicamp invitations ED Jay Person (Chattanooga): A six-year senior who played at Appalachian State before transferring to Chattanooga in 2019, Person appeared in 48 games for the Mocs and registered 27 sacks as well as nine forced fumbles. 2023 was the most productive season in the 6-foot-2, 237-pounder’s career. K Vincent Blanchard (Laval): New England is set to bring in some potential competition for Chad Ryland, as Blanchard announced on his Instagram that’ll he be in attendance during Patriots rookie minicamp. The 25-year old native of Quebec City attended Laval where he connected on 53-of-71 field goals (74.6 percent) in 29 career games. OT Tairiq Stewart (North Carolina A&T): The 6-foot-6 right tackle allowed just one sack and four total pressures last season for the Aggies. That performance came a year after he earned first-team All-Big South honors. Stewart will now attend Patriots rookie minicamp. RB Terrell Jennings (Florida A&M): A well-sized back at 6-foot-0, 217 pounds, Jennings spent five years at Florida A&M. Mainly serving as a rotational back, he carried the ball 381 times in 45 games and gained 1,754 yards. He also scored 24 touchdowns and was used as a part-time receiver and kickoff returner.
