Patriots head coaching change: News, analysis, reactions, and more

Image Photo by Adam Glanzman/Getty Images After 24 years, Belichick and the Patriots will go separate ways. Thursday marked the end of an era. Bill Belichick, who had served as head coach of the New England Patriots for the last 24 years, will not be back with the organization in 2024. Belichick led the club to six Super Bowl wins and was the architect behind the first and only dynasty of the salary cap era; he is a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer and arguably the greatest head coach in the history of the game. With him 72 years old and the team missing the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, however, the writing was on the wall. On Thursday, reports started to surface that Belichick and the Patriots have agreed to a mutual split — ending the most successful partnership the league has ever seen. Questions over who would succeed Belichick remained unanswered for less than 24 hours: Jerod Mayo, who played and coached under Belichick, was hired as the team’s new head coach. As always, we here at Pats Pulpit will give you extensive coverage of everything going on. In this story stream, we will compile all of our stories, analysis and breakdowns about Belichick’s departure and Mayo’s promotion to head coach.
