NFL Week 17 Sunday games: Patriots rooting guide, picks, open thread, and more

Image Photo by Rich Schultz/Getty Images Welcome to our Week 17 Patriots Rooting Guide. After the New England Patriots secured their fourth victory of the season over the Denver Broncos, they also slid back to the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft. With two weeks left in the season, they’ll be focused on strength of schedules — the draft pick tie breaker — in order to help shoot back up the board. They got off to a strong start Thursday night with the Browns victory and now will turn to the rest of the NFL slate on Sunday for additional support. Welcome in to this week’s Patriots Rooting Guide! Miami Dolphins (11-4) at Baltimore Ravens (12-3): Go Ravens! After losing two games this season to the Dolphins, a Miami loss would have a significant impact on New England’s strength of schedule. | CBS Atlanta Falcons (7-8) at Chicago Bears (6-9): Go Bears! A Chicago win would eliminate the Bears from potentially jumping New England in the draft order. | CBS Tennessee Titans (5-10) at Houston Texans (8-7): Go Titans! With Mike Vrabel’s squad sitting just one game back of the Patriots, New England will root for them to pick up their sixth win in this one. | FOX Las Vegas Raiders (7-8) at Indianapolis Colts (8-7): Go good game! With losses to Las Vegas and Indianapolis already on New England’s schedule, this one won't hold a major impact on the Patriots. | CBS Carolina Panthers (2-13) at Jacksonville Jaguars (8-7): Go Panthers! There is no major strength of schedule impact here, but New England will continue to root for Carolina these past two weeks with a small amount of hope they can slide back down the draft board. | CBS Los Angeles Rams (8-7) at New York Giants (5-10): Go Giants! Despite losing to New York earlier this season, a Giants victory would be more beneficial for New England’s statical odds of a higher pick as they defeated the Commanders twice this season. | FOX Arizona Cardinals (3-12) at Philadelphia Eagles (11-4): Go Cardinals! With three wins, Arizona remains one of the most important teams for the Patriots to monitor down the stretch. A win here — paired with a New England loss — would allow a position swap in the draft order. | FOX New Orleans Saints (7-8) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-7): Go Buccaneers! After losing to the Saints earlier this season, New England will root for them to come up on the wrong side of this NFC South battle. | FOX San Francisco 49ers (11-4) at Washington Commanders (4-11): Go Commanders! With Washington jumping New England in the draft standings last week, the Patriots will hope QB Jacoby Brissett QB Sam Howell can put together a win or two together to end the season. | FOX 4:05 p.m. ET Pittsburgh Steelers (8-7) at Seattle Seahawks (8-7): Go Seahawks! An underrated big game in the strength of schedule department for the Patriots, as the Commanders lost to Seattle earlier this season. | FOX 4:25 p.m. ET Los Angeles Chargers (5-10) at Denver Broncos (7-8): Go Broncos! While a Chargers win would help maintain the gap in the draft order, the strength of schedule impact will be larger with a Denver — and Jarrett Stidham — victory. | CBS Cincinnati Bengals (8-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (9-6): Go Bengals! After losing to Kansas City two weeks ago, the Patriots will root for the Bengals to take down the struggling Chiefs. | CBS 8:20 p.m. ET Green Bay Packers (7-8) at Minnesota Vikings (7-8): Go good game! Neither NFC North opponent appeared on the Patriots schedule this season, meaning this outcome won't play a significant role in New England’s efforts for a higher draft choice. | NBC Make sure to check down below for the Pats Pulpit staff’s best picks today, while also heading to the comment section to discuss anything from Week 17 of the NFL season.
