Patriots vs. Chiefs inactives: JuJu Smith-Schuster among 3 starters ruled out

Image Photo by Adam Glanzman/Getty Images New England’s offense will be down multiple starters. The New England Patriots will host the reigning world champions at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, and they will do so with three members of their starting lineup unavailable: wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, offensive tackle Trent Brown, and running back Rhamondre Stevenson have all been ruled out for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. All three were listed on Friday’s injury report. Stevenson was already declared inactive due to the ankle injury he suffered two Sunday’s ago versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Smith-Schuster and Brown, meanwhile, were questionable but eventually downgraded 90 minutes before kickoff. The wideout is dealing with an ankle issue, whereas as the veteran left tackle suffered an illness on top of ankle and hand ailments. With that said, let’s take a look at who else will not suit up for New England in Week 15. Patriots inactives
  • WR Kayshon Boutte
  • OT Trent Brown
  • DE Sam Roberts
  • WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
  • RB Rhamondre Stevenson
  • CB Shaun Wade
Besides the aforementioned Trent Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Rhamondre Stevenson, the Patriots also ruled out three more players. All of them are healthy scratches: wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, defensive lineman Sam Roberts, and cornerback Shaun Wade. Boutte was listed on the injury report on Wednesday and Friday due to a shoulder issue, but he was taken off the list Friday. Seven of the Patriots’ questionables, meanwhile, are good to go. Wide receivers DeVante Parker (knee) and Tyquan Thornton (hamstring), tight end Pharaoh Brown (foot), defensive tackle Christian Barmore (shoulder, illness), linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee) and special teamer Matthew Slater (groin) have all been cleared for the game. Also on the field will be wide receiver Demario Douglas. The rookie missed the last two games after suffering a concussion, but he was removed from the injury list Friday as well. Chiefs inactives
  • DT Matt Dickerson
  • DT Neil Farrell
  • ED Malik Herring
  • RB Isiah Pacheco
  • OT Donovan Smith
  • ED B.J. Thompson
  • CB Joshua Williams
The biggest names on the Chiefs’ inactives list were already known heading into the weekend: running back Isiah Pacheco, the team’s leader in scrimmage yards, and starting left tackle Donovan Smith have all been deemed unavailable. Kickoff between the Patriots and Chiefs at Gillette Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
