Their next game, after all, is going to be played just four days later: the 2-10 Patriots will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the 7-5 Steelers on Thursday Night Football. One of two primetime games remaining for the Patriots — the other coming in Week 16 in Denver — it will be a battle of backup quarterbacks. Bailey Zappe will start for New England after supplanting a struggling Mac Jones on the depth charter; Mitchell Trubisky will lead the Steelers following an injury to nominal starter Kenny Pickett. What that plus the short turnaround will mean for the quality of the game remains to be seen. However, fireworks between the 32nd- and 28th-ranked scoring teams in football probably will not be in the cards.
