Patriots vs. Chargers Friday injury report: Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte ruled out for Week 13

Image Photo by Billie Weiss/Getty Images Game statuses for Week 13 at Gillette Stadium. The New England Patriots will be down two rookie wide receivers against the Los Angeles Chargers. Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte have been ruled out after neither returned in time for Friday’s practice inside Gillette Stadium. While the Liberty product remained in the NFL’s concussion protocol throughout the week, the LSU product went from limited to sidelined for back-to-back sessions due to a shoulder injury as well as an illness. Here are the rest of the game statuses heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff in Foxborough. OUT Patriots
  • WR Demario Douglas (concussion)
  • WR Kayshon Boutte (shoulder, illness)
Chargers
  • TE Nick Vannett (concussion)
  • G Zack Bailey (back)
  • CB Ja’Sir Taylor (illness)
  • S JT Woods (illness)
After a clotheslined play went unpenalized last Sunday at MetLife Stadium, Douglas was downgraded from doubtful to out in the fourth quarter of New England’s 10-7 loss to the New York Giants. The No. 210 overall pick currently stands atop the roster with 410 receiving yards and has averaged 5.1 yards per punt return. As for Boutte, the fellow sixth-round draft arrival saw 37 offensive snaps across the team’s previous two games. QUESTIONABLE Patriots
  • RB Ezekiel Elliott (thigh)
  • OT Trent Brown (ankle, chest)
  • G Sidy Sow (ankle)
  • G Riley Reiff (knee)
  • DE Deatrich Wise Jr. (shoulder)
  • LB Chris Board (back)
Chargers
  • WR Keenan Allen (quad)
  • OT Trey Pipkins III (wrist)
Six remain questionable for the Patriots, including Reiff, who has yet to be activated from injured reserve. But the longtime tackle and recent guard was back at practice on Friday after being absent for the previous session. Elsewhere, a trio of captains practiced in full and have been cleared from New England’s side of the injury report. That group includes center David Andrews, linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley and core special-teamer Matthew Slater. As for the Chargers, a perennial Pro Bowler returned to practice as a limited participant after sitting out consecutive practices due to a quad injury. The 31-year-old Allen leads the NFL with 129 targets and 97 catches in 2023. That volume has brought 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns.
