Thursday Cheese Curds: Packers will look to training camp for full health, OL answers

Image Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images A couple of notable injuries will force the Packers to wait to assemble their full offense until later this summer. The Green Bay Packers’ young offense was a remarkable thing to watch in the final two months of the 2023 NFL season. The breakout performances, surprising contributors, and impressive rookies all combined to give fans of the team a memorable late-season run. Fortunately, nearly every key member of the unit from that stretch last season returns for the 2024 season, But not every one of them will be available for spring practices, with a couple of key individuals sitting out with injuries. One of those is Zach Tom, whose positional versatility has made the spot that he will play in 2024 one of the more intriguing questions of the offseason. However, answers about whether he will play right tackle or center will have to wait, thanks to a torn pectoral that is expected to keep him out of practices until training camp begins. That should mean more opportunities for Jordan Morgan to get some first-team reps at right tackle, as he did this week. It also allows Josh Myers to keep his job as the team’s starting center — at least for now. So while there should still be some shuffling of the offensive line over the remainder of OTAs and minicamp in the next few weeks, Tom’s absence means the team will not be able to start piecing together its preferred starting five until late July or August. That’s one of a handful of takeaways from the first few days of OTAs. Let’s look at a few more and some other Packers-related news. 5 things learned during Week 1 of Packers’ OTAs | Packers.com
