Packers rookies invited to NFL Rookie Premier

Image Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images Two Green Bay draft picks were invited to the NFLPA Rookie Premier, which features 40 total prospects for the 2024 class. The NFL Rookie Premier is an event where the league debuts rookies in their full uniforms for the first time. The event leads to several products being created, including rookie football cards, if that’s your thing. According to the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the NFLPA invited 40 players to the event this year. All but two (Indianapolis Colts pass-rusher Laiatu Latu and Minnesota Vikings pass-rusher Dallas Turner) players invited in this cycle came from the offensive side of the ball. While the Packers didn’t draft a pass-catcher in the 2024 draft class, they did draft two backs — running back MarShawn Lloyd and quarterback Michael Pratt. Both of those players made the 40-man cut. If you were hoping to get a rookie card of first-round pick offensive lineman Jordan Morgan in his Packers uniform, you’re going to have to wait a while. That goes for any of the other 2024 Green Bay draft picks, too. The league’s strategy for this event seems odd on the surface. Pratt is going into a quarterback battle with Sean Clifford, a 2023 fifth-round pick, this summer. It’s highly unlikely, based on how deep the Packers’ roster is, that both players will survive final cuts. Instead of creating products that involve the players who are most likely to stick around on the team long-term, the NFL and NFLPA instead lean in on offensive skill positions — to the point that even roster bubble players are being given off-the-field value higher than linemen or defenders. If you were hoping to get Lloyd merchandise, though, this might be your chance to find him in a full Packers uniform with the number 32. Earlier this month, Lloyd told the press that Green Bay will allow him to wear a number other than his assigned 32 after the preseason. It’s possible that the rest of Lloyd’s rookie cards, that don’t use photos from the NFL Rookie Premier event, will have him wearing his college number (#0).
