Packers tie franchise record for points scored in playoff game during win over Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers tied a franchise record for points scored in a playoff game during Sunday’s 48-32 win over the Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium in the NFC Wild Card Round. The 48 points tied the mark set by the Packers during a 48-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Divisional Round during the 2010 season. As was the case during the Super Bowl XLV run, the Packers used a scoring onslaught to upset one of the NFC’s top seeds on the road. The similarities between Sunday’s win in Dallas and the victory in Atlanta are many. Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes and had a passer rating of 157.2 on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes and had a passer rating of 136.8 in Atlanta. Darnell Savage had a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the first half that gave the Packers a 27-0 lead on Sunday. Tramon Williams had a 70-yard interception return late in the first half that gave the Packers a 28-14 lead in Atlanta. The Packers intercepted Dak Prescott twice leading to touchdowns on Sunday. Sunday’s 48-32 win in Dallas marked the fifth time the Packers have scored 40 or more points in a playoff game. The Packers did it twice under Aaron Rodgers (2009, 2010), once under Brett Favre (2007) and once under Lynn Dickey (1983). The Packers scored 48 points in Love’s first playoff start, 45 in Rodgers’ first playoff start and 28 in Favre’s first playoff start. The Packers are now 18-2 in the postseason when they score 30 or more points and 4-1 when they score 40 or more.
