Jets to Release Corey Davis who Plans Return to NFL

Image A bit of news from out of left field today in regards to New York Jets wide receiver Corey Davis.  Having suddenly stepped away from the game before the start of last season, Davis apparently wants to return but it won’t necessarily be with the Jets. Veteran WR Corey Davis, who stepped away from football in August, has applied for reinstatement to the NFL. The Jets are expected to release Davis from the Reserve/Retired list today, although a return to New York on a new contract is in play. pic.twitter.com/iiEx1abvlw — Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 14, 2024 NFL insider Field Yates says the Jets are expected to release Davis from the retired list but that there’s no guarantee he’ll re-sign with Gang Green. With Allen Lazard under contract, a return could be complicated as the two play similar roles in Nate Hackett’s offense. The simple fact that the Jets are releasing Davis as opposed to activating him may be a strong enough that the receiver won’t be back in Green and White despite the team being desperate for quality bodies at wide receiver.  The post Jets to Release Corey Davis who Plans Return to NFL appeared first on JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum.
