WFAN host laments NY Jets’ ‘fleece’ of Vikings in draft trade

ImageOne WFAN host was furious about the New York Jets’ trade with the Vikings Trader Joe Douglas was at it again for the New York Jets. And one WFAN host is seething. Gregg Giannotti, half of the ‘Boomer and Gio’ show on WFAN Radio in New York, is a renowned Minnesota Vikings fan. After the Vikings traded up one spot with the Jets, giving up picks No. 129 and 157 in the process while getting back No. 203, Gio went on a tirade against the move. .@GioWFAN loses it after his Vikings got "fleeced" by Joe Douglas and the Jets 😂 pic.twitter.com/JD9QH2sV69 — WFAN Sports Radio (@WFAN660) April 26, 2024 “Big old Joe Douglas, just playing my idiot GM like a ukulele, going, ‘I’m getting calls left and right about this J.J. McCarthy,’ and then they trade a bunch of picks to move up one spot when they didn’t need to!” Gio fumed. Boomer tried to console Gio, offering that McCarthy could turn into C.J. Stroud. Gio wasn’t buying it, though, lamenting his Vikings fandom. Jets fans can certainly relate. After 13 years of playoff futility, many have questioned their allegiance to a team that makes chronically stupid moves. Still, Douglas has often been on the other side of the fence when it comes to trades. He’s made several savvy moves in his time as Jets general manager. This was another. From the Vikings’ perspective, the move was to ensure that they got their guy. We’ll never know if Douglas was bluffing when he said other teams had interest in moving up. However, on the NFL Network draft coverage, Daniel Jeremiah said that if he were Douglas, he would call the Vikings and tell them that there was interest from other teams in moving up for McCarthy. Apparently, Douglas did just that. For Jets fans, adding draft capital while still nabbing the intended target is a sweet deal. As Douglas indicated, the team may want to use the capital to move back into the second round. Stay tuned to Jets X-Factor for coverage of the remaining rounds of the draft!
