Let me clear up the selection process. I try to pick the four to five best players from each opposing team while being conscious of Jacksonville’s roster needs. So, I will never include a quarterback (Lamar Jackson rules but the Jaguars have Trevor Lawrence) and will occasionally omit talented players who would have a tough path for large workloads in Jacksonville (Mark Andrews rules but Evan Engram is on the first year of a contract extension). I will also lean towards younger players with lower salaries than the inverse (Zay Flowers over Odell Beckham Jr., for example). This week, I cast my vote for Linderbaum. Smith, Humphrey and Hamilton are all elite defenders, and Flowers has shined as a rookie, but plugging Linderbaum into the Jaguars’ starting lineup would make the biggest difference. On all rush attempts with under 5 yards to go, Jacksonville ranks 29th in success rate and 32nd in stuffed run rate since the start of last season, per Sports Info Solutions.
