Giants-Eagles Week 18 odds: Better odds for the rematch

Image Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports Bettors are accounting for Philly’s struggles The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants by eight points on Christmas Day, but their recent struggles mean bettors are giving them slightly worse odds for the Week 18 rematch in East Rutherford. The Eagles opened as 6.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, with -270 moneyline odds. The over/under is set at 46.5 points. The Eagles have lost four of their last five games since beginning the season with a 10-1 record, and have not covered the spread in any of those five matchups. Their lone recent win was a 33-25 defeat of the Giants in Week 16, in which Philly failed to cover the 10.5-point spread. This Sunday, Philadelphia lost 35-31 to the lowly Arizona Cardinals in what may be one of the lowest points in the franchise’s recent history. The Eagles were 13-point favorites, but Arizona overcame a 21-6 deficit on the back of three touchdown passes from Kyler Murray. Because the Dallas Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions this week, Dallas can now clinch the NFC East title with a win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The Eagles would need to beat the Giants and have Dallas lose in order to win the division and host a first-round playoff game. The Giants are coming off a one-point loss to the Los Angles Rams. New York has covered the spread in five of its last six games, winning three of them outright. They were underdogs in each contest. The Giants are also 3-3 against the spread this year when their opponent is favored by 6.5 points or more. They’ve only won one such game outright, against the Commanders in November. However, the Giants have now lost five straight games to the Eagles. In their last matchup, the Giants benched quarterback Tommy Devito at halftime in favor of veteran Tyrod Taylor, which brought at least slightly more explosiveness to their offense. Perhaps New York will fare better this time around with Taylor starting from the beginning. They’ll need to if they want to avoid ending their miserable 2023 season on a four-game losing streak.
