Dolphins News: Dolphins to re-sign RB Salvon Ahmed

While the Miami Dolphins have lost a number of key free agents through the two days of the legal tampering window, they’ve been working to retain a few of their own as well. According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, one member of the 2023 team that’s re-signing is running back Salvon Ahmed. Ahmed, 25, was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 NFL draft following a collegiate career at Washington. Failing to make San Francisco’s roster as a rookie, Ahmed was claimed by Miami and has been in South Florida ever since, rushing for 593 yards and five touchdowns on 3.6 yards per attempt. After re-signing as a restricted free agent last year, Ahmed rushed for just 61 yards and a score on 2.8 yards per carry whole adding 88 yards and another touchdown on 16 receptions. At the moment, the Dolphins’ running back room is probably the deepest position on the team with Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., De’Von Achane and Chris Brooks all under contract as well for 2024. Ahmed will have to battle for 53-man roster spot this year, or he could find himself cut (and potentially brought back on the practice squad).
