Dolphins News: Former Dolphins WR Cedrick Wilson signing with the Saints

While the Miami Dolphins have been able to re-sign a handful of their owe free agents, a fair number of them have found new teams to play for in 2024. On Thursday night, another name was added to that list, as wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Wilson, 28, was originally selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft following a collegiate career at Coffeyville Community College and Boise State. After playing out his rookie contract in Dallas, Wilson signed a three-year contract with Miami in 2022. Unfortunately, Wilson’s expected role in the offense was quickly diminished when the Dolphins traded for Tyreek Hill, forcing the former Cowboy to become a third or fourth option. Before the 2023 season, Miami and the wideout agreed to a reworked contract that had his contract void at the end of the year. In two seasons in aqua and orange, Wilson recorded 34 receptions for 432 yards and three touchdowns. At this point, the Dolphins still desperately need receiver depth, as the position is pretty bare behind Hill and Jaylen Waddle. They’ll have to find some talent in free agency or the draft, which is deep at wideout this year, before they step on the field in September.
