Dolphins News: TE Jonnu Smith says he signed with the Dolphins to win a championship

The Miami Dolphins attacked the free-agent market before the legal tampering period even began, as they signed tight end Jonnu Smith to a two-year deal last week. Smith, 28, is joining Miami after spending the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons following six years split between the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots. On Wednesday, Smith spoke to South Florida reporters for the first time since signing with the Dolphins, and he shared why he decided to don the aqua and orange for the next two years. Smith is asked what made the Dolphins the right fit. He said the list is endless but “I'll start with an opportunity to go and win a world championship.” https://t.co/64r6BOIaqy — Daniel Oyefusi (@DanielOyefusi) March 13, 2024 Miami has been a first-round exit in each of the last two postseasons, but they certainly have the talent to make a run if they can stay healthy and perform to their abilities. Smith can be a huge part of that. Head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense, which is a new branch of the Shanahan tree, works best when it has a versatile tight end who can block and catch. Smith can do both of those things, so his arrival could help take the offense to the next level. It’s a lofty goal, but it’s not crazy.
