Ranking the top linebacker prospects Cowboys should draft in 2024

The Dallas Cowboys will almost certainly add a linebacker at some point in this draft. The linebacker room, as it currently sits, is thin. Last season the Cowboys were forced to play Damone Clark, a weak side linebacker, as a strong side linebacker following an injury to Leighton Vander Esch that would ultimately force him to retire. Taking Clark’s place on the weak side would have been 2023 3rd round pick DeMarvion Overshown, but he suffered a torn ACL during the preseason. Enter Markquese Bell, a safety, that would answer the call to step up and play linebacker for the remainder of the season. The Cowboys did ultimately sign veteran free agent linebacker Eric Kendricks. He fills a multitude of needs for the 2024 Cowboys defense. First, he’s a middle and strong side linebacker. Also, Kendricks made his name in Minnesota playing under none other than, you guessed it, Mike Zimmer. His experience within the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator scheme will be invaluable. That said, Kendricks is on a one year deal and teh Cowboys are one injury away from disaster at the position. Here’s a closer look at the best linebackers in the draft.
