9 Cowboys draft options on offensive line after Round 1

The losses of both Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz with no replacements via free agency, heightens the likelihood the Cowboys address one of the two spots with the No. 24 pick in April’s draft. The Cowboys have a storied history of knocking those positions out of the park when selecting in the first round, with Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and now Tyler Smith all earning All-Pro designations. The problem with a strategy like that is, what if a better player than the available offensive linemen falls to Dallas’ pick? How will they address the obvious needs later on?The draft should be about the next five years, not solely the upcoming season, and Dallas has needs beyond 2024. Demarcus Lawrence, Jourdan Lewis, Osa Odighizuwa, and Brandin Cooks are all free agents after the 2024 season. Names such as Brian Thomas Jr., WR from LSU, Byron Murphy, DT out of Texas, Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB from Alabama, and edge rusher Laiatu Latu from UCLA could fall to the Cowboys’ spot, and if they did, what could Dallas do in the rest of the draft in order to still address the OL?Dallas has to find a way to stretch positions of need into Day 3 and OL could be their best chance at getting starters in Round 2 through Round 5. Here’s a look at several possibilities in each stanza.
