3 vastly different paths back to contention for Cowboys offseason

The Dallas Cowboys have 16 players entering free agency on Monday, eight of whom were starters in 2023. That list consists of Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz from the offensive line, Stephon Gilmore, Jourdan Lewis, and Jayron Kearse from the defensive backs, running back Tony Pollard, defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins, and long snapper Trent Sieg. Dorance Armstrong Jr., Dante Fowler Jr., Rico Dowdle, Sean McKeon, and Chuma Edoga all were solid contributors as well. The team has seven selections in the 2024 draft and major needs at offensive tackle, center, running back, defensive tackle, and linebacker. They also need depth at receiver, edge, and cornerback. In order to fill out the roster, Dallas will need to bring some of these players back, sign some outside free agents, and land some major contributors in the draft. There are many ways to skin a cat. Here’s a look at three different variations of an offseason gameplan that mixes various elements of each approach to try and identify the best path forward.
