20 best remaining free agents Cowboys could sign

The Cowboys have already made three moves following the draft to add veterans to the fold. The NFL accelarated the date when free agent signings no longer impact the compensatory formula, so now once the draft ends, teams can immediately get back to work to filling holes with experienced players. Dallas added Ezekiel Elliott and Damien Wilson, the latter being an internal re-sign, but they still have a handful of roster spots open. With rookie camp coming in a couple of weeks, the team may wait to see if any tryout guys are worthy of adding to the offseason program. Still, players can be released at any time so veterans can be added to the mix between now and the start of the regular season. The roster is not locked for the back half, churn is an ever-present reality and Dallas could use depth or upgrades in several spots. The team bragged about their fourth-round pick in this year’s draft being Trey Lance; but what if they want a more experienced backup to Dak Prescott and want to move on from Cooper Rush? What if the team wants more experience at wideout behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks? Offensive tackle depth could use a veteran as depth, the interior of the defensive line is still shaky and the club has not filled the Dante Fowler role at defensive end.The secondary could use a boost with more experience as well. It’s not likely the Cowboys make any of these moves now, but as the season draws closer over the next few months, perhaps their thought process changes about how much they want to invest in the 2024 campaign. If they do, this list could be useful.
