The NFL draft is upon the football world and 32 teams are ready to select players that will shape the future of their franchises. The Dallas Cowboys are firmly in that mix but they must do so from a starting position of the No. 24 overall pick, which according to Jerry Jones is because the Cowboys were the “24th best” team in the league last year. Safe to assume he meant ninth best. It would be shocking if the Cowboys took a quarterback in the first round given their starter received runner-up MVP honors for the 2023 season. Additionally, the team is sitting on Cooper Rush, 5-1 record when asked to start, and Trey Lance, former No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, whom they acquired via trade with the San Francisco 49ers just last season. That said, all three of those quarterbacks are currently on the final year of their contracts. With the future at the quarterback position uncertain, better be safe than sorry.
