Defensive tackles Cowboys can draft after Round 1

The Dallas Cowboys have lost 10 players from their 2023 team thus far in the offseason. Eight free agents have signed elsewhere and two more were cut by the team. Five were starters; Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz on the offensive line, wide receiver Michael Gallup, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, running back Tony Pollard, and defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins. Hankins was one of multiple defensive line losses that including backup defensive tackle Neville Gallimore and defensive end Dorance Armstrong, who shifted inside often. The team brought back Carl Davis but have made no other signings to replace the players they’ve lost at the DT position. Their first-round pick from last season, Mazi Smith, is coming off of a low-impact rookie campaign and had to have shoulder surgery that could keep him out until training camp. The Cowboys biggest need on the team is at this spot, and there aren’t many viable options remaining in the third phase of free agency. They will need to fill their void through the draft. Dallas could require multiple bodies in order to even fill out their roster at both nose tackle and three technique. They’re unlikely to take another defensive tackle in the first round after selecting Smith last season, especially considering the holes they need to fill throughout the team.
