Colts News: Report: Colts among 'several options' for AJ Dillon in free agency

The Indianapolis Colts are in the market for a backup running back and one name emerged Wednesday in the form of AJ Dillon. The former Green Bay Packers running back is set to hit the open market after four seasons with the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. The Colts reportedly are among several teams Dillon is looking to sign with, including the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. As the #Packers have rebuilt their RB room, free agent RB AJ Dillon has several options outside GB, with sources say he's looking at the #Giants, #Colts and #Cowboys. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 13, 2024 While the Colts will be in the market for a backup running back, the position is hardly a top priority. Or at least, it shouldn’t be. The Colts are set with Jonathan Taylor as the starter for the next three seasons, and the running back market is still depressed. Dillon hasn’t been much more than an early-down bruiser throughout his career. He’s coming off the worst campaign since entering the league, taking 178 carries for 613 rushing yards (3.4 YPC) and two rushing touchdowns. It likely wouldn’t cost the Colts much to bring Dillon into the mix, and it will be interesting to see how hard the front office goes after the Boston College product. But this will be one to watch once the new league year officially arrives Wednesday afternoon.
