Fan Favorite Bucs Coach Returns For Another Year

There’s understandable been some widespread panic amongst Bucs fans as their offensive coaching staff continues to disintegrate. But good news just came out as offensive consultant Tom Moore will be returning to Tampa Bay next season, per NFL Network’s Peter Schrager. My favorite tweet every year. Tom Moore is coming back for a 46th season of coaching in the NFL. The 85-year-old will be back with the @Buccaneers coaching staff in 2024, per source. pic.twitter.com/weZm0RcOfp — Peter Schrager (@PSchrags) February 1, 2024 Moore is at the spry age of 85 years and is coming back for his sixth season with the Bucs. It’ll be his 46th season coaching in the NFL and the 48th year that he is coaching football. Another joyful subplot of Moore’s return is we’ll get to see more of his friendship with Bucs’ nose tackle Vita Vea. Typically Vea has posted instagram stories of his interactions with Moore at Tampa Bay’s facility, much to the comical pleasure of Bucs fans. His first NFL coaching opportunity came in 1977 when he was the wide receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers under Chuck Knoll. Along the way Moore has also been a coach or consultant for the Lions, Saints, Colts, Jets, Titans, Cardinals and Bucs. Bucs Quarterback History With Moore Going into his sixth year, Moore has worked with a number of different quarterback in the Bucs’ organization. It started out with Jameis Winston in 2019, where Winston had the infamous 30 for 30 season with 33 touchdown to 30 interceptions. The following year Tom Brady came in and the Bucs won Super Bowl LV. Brady spent three seasons with the Bucs from 2020 to 2022. In that time he passed for 14,643 yards, throwing for 108 touchdowns and 33 interceptions. Brady finished third on Tampa Bay’s all time franchise passing yards list and is second in touchdown. In terms of single seasons, he holds the single season passing record with 5,316 yards and the touchdown record at 43, each from the 2021 season. Brady is also second on the season touchdown record throwing 40 touchdowns in the 2020 Super Bowl year. After Moore went through the Brady years, next up was Baker Mayfield. Given a lot of uncertainty going into it, Mayfield exceeded expectations throwing for 4,044 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. This kind of season earned him a comeback player of the year nomination and a Pro Bowl alternate nod. Other notable quarterback that Moore has worked with in his career include Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer. Former offensive coordinator Dave Canales went to the Panthers to be their head coach. Joining him was Bucs’ wide receivers coach Brad Idzik along with assistant coach and run-game coordinator Harold Goodwin and offensive line coach Joe Gilbert. Tampa Bay is interviewing many candidates both from other organizations and in-house. It could make for another interesting season with a lot of mystery around it before a game is played since it’s unpredictable what the system will look like. Other questions arising are if the Bucs will be able to re-sign the likes of Mayfield and wide receiver Mike Evans. This plays a huge factor into who could be the next play caller. At least know Moore will be available to help out when it’s figured out and established. The post Fan Favorite Bucs Coach Returns For Another Year appeared first on Pewter Report.
