Bucs Mock Draft Roundup 2024: Senior Bowl Edition

We’ve reached the end of January, and we are now officially in Senior Bowl Week. The Bucs, along with the other 31 teams in the league, have eyes on Mobile, Alabama, all week as NFL Draft season officially kicks off. Some of the top upperclassmen in the 2024 Draft are participating in practices at Hancock Whitney Stadium throughout the week before the Senior Bowl Game on Saturday. Under the direction of general manager Jason Licht, the Bucs have been big on drafting Senior Bowl alums. In his 10 drafts with Tampa Bay, Licht has drafted 27 players who participated in college football’s premier all-star game. In the last three years, he’s selected 13 players who went through Mobile on their way to the NFL. So, if history tells us anything, there will be some future Bucs out there on the field this week. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what the latest mock drafts are projecting for Tampa Bay during Senior Bowl Week. *Players who accepted Senior Bowl invites will have an asterisk next to their names. Bucs Pre-Senior Bowl Mock Draft Roundup The Draft Network’s Justin Melo ImageFlorida State WR Keon Coleman – Photo by: USA Today Round 1, Pick 26: Florida State WR Keon Coleman “Mike Evans’ future in Tampa legitimately hangs in the balance. If general manager Jason Licht wants to round out his offense with another big-bodied downfield threat, Florida State’s Keon Coleman fits the bill. Coleman is a different receiver than Evans, but his exceptional leaping ability and ball skills would mesh well with Baker Mayfield’s gunslinger mentality.” CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards Round 1, Pick 26: LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. “Mike Evans has played out the final year of his contract. Baker Mayfield is expected to return next season, but there has been less speculation about Evans, who produced his 10th 1,000 receiving yards season in as many years. The selection of Brian Thomas Jr. provides Tampa Bay with some salary cap relief while retaining a supreme talent at the position.” The Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy ImageAlabama OLB Chris Braswell – Photo by: USA Today Round 1, Pick 26: Alabama EDGE Chris Braswell* “Chris Braswell is another sneaky pick late in the first round and fills a need for the Bucs.” CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso Round 1, Pick 26: Florida State EDGE Jared Verse “The Buccaneers and head coach Todd Bowles need more youthful outside pass-rushing talent. Verse pieced together back-to-back awesome seasons at Florida State after transferring there before the 2022 season.” Sports Illustrated’s Luke Easterling Round 1, Pick 26: Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson Pro Football Network’s Tony Catalina ImageWashington QB Michael Penix Jr. – Photo by: USA Today Round 1, Pick 26: Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.* “An interesting decision here that could shake things up for Tampa Bay. With an uncertain future for Baker Mayfield, and not much else to build on in the QB room, the Bucs could choose to re-sign Mayfield and add a QB for the future. It isn’t too common these days, but Michael Penix Jr. in Tampa may be a perfect situation for a player who has a chance to play in the not-so-distant future but has a chance to get integrated into an NFL system.” Pro Football Network’s Anthony Miller Round 1, Pick 26: Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.* “This one could be a bit of an upset, especially with Baker Mayfield playing well in the playoffs. However, he was far from elite in the regular season. Michael Penix Jr. has an elite arm with great accuracy and some refinement to his game. The Buccaneers land a future face of the franchise by grabbing a first-round caliber quarterback in this 2024 NFL Mock Draft.” Pro Football Network’s Joe Broback ImageDuke OL Graham Barton – Photo by: USA Today Round 1, Pick 26: Duke G Graham Barton* “Baker Mayfield’s development this year erased the need at quarterback for this draft, so the Bucs turn their attention to the guys in front of him. Graham Barton is a versatile player who can play every position, so Tampa Bay gets depth at multiple positions by taking him.” Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell Round 1, Pick 26: Oklahoma OT Tyler Guyton* “Tampa Bay badly needs interior offensive line help. Guyton could start out at guard, but the Bucs could eventually flip him and Luke Goedeke to improve the line at two spots. “The 6-foot-7, 328-pound Guyton is said to be an athletic freak with a special combination of size, speed and length. He started five games in 2022 for the Sooners after starting out his career at TCU. In 2021, he played offensive tackle and h-back with the Horned Frogs. Team sources say Guyton has all the ability but needs to get more consistent. They have said Guyton is a good kid, but immature. Guyton possesses a lot of upside to grow as he gains experience. Multiple team sources said Guyton has first-round potential and think he could be a riser for the 2024 NFL Draft.” Round 2, Pick 57: North Carolina LB Cedric Gray* ImageNorth Carolina LB Cedric Gray Photo by: USA Today “Tampa Bay could let Devin White walk in free agency and find a replacement in the 2024 NFL Draft. “In 2023, Gray amassed 121 tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one interception and four passes defended. He was one of the best linebackers in college football in 2022 and super productive for the Tar Heels. Gray recorded 144 tackles, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, six passes broken up and one sack that season. In 2021, he totaled 99 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and three pass breakups. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder has a good build and instincts.” Round 3, Pick 90: South Carolina CB Marcellas Dial “The Bucs could consider adding corner depth and some options in case they want to get cheaper. Dial will continue the South Carolina tradition of producing draftable cornerbacks for the next level, as he flashed ability during 2022 in the starter role across from Cam Sutton. That season, Dial recorded three interceptions, 12 passes broken up and 45 tackles. He totaled 33 tackles and six breakups over 2021. In 2023, Dial notched 36 tackles, one sack and 10 passes broken up. The 6-foot, 195-pounder has good size, but teams have questions about his instincts and overall athleticism.” The post Bucs Mock Draft Roundup 2024: Senior Bowl Edition appeared first on Pewter Report.
