Baker Mayfield Made More Money With Win Over Eagles

With every recent win, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield keeps cashing on in. By now, everyone knows that Mayfield was an absolute bargain, signing a one-year, prove-it deal with Tampa Bay for $4 million. And most know that Mayfield hit some incentives throughout the season, including a big $1 million bonus for the Bucs winning their division and making the playoffs with a 9-0 win at Carolina in Week 18. But Mayfield has continued to rack up the bonus money as the Bucs finished the regular season and begin to go deeper in the playoffs – thanks to a 32-9 Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night at Raymond James Stadium. Playing with a rib injury and a sprained ankle, Mayfield passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns without an interception against a downtrodden Eagles defense. With his big performance on Monday night, he hit another incentive. After receiving a big $1 million bonus as a result of the Bucs winning their division and making the playoffs, Mayfield earned another $250,000 for the first-round playoff win. If the Bucs can win and he plays at least 75% of the snaps, Mayfield will be another $250,000 richer – and they’ll be in the NFC Championship Game the following week. To date, Mayfield has earned $2.85 million in incentives. He made $1 million by taking at least 85% of the regular-season snaps on offense, along with the other $1 million the Bucs made by making the playoffs. He also earned $300,000 by finishing in the Top 10 in the NFL in passing yards (he was ninth with 4,044) and in the top 10 in passing touchdowns (Mayfield was seventh, with 28 TDs). Baker Mayfield Will Cash In During Free Agency After Great 2023 Season ImageBucs QB Baker Mayfield – Photo by: USA Today A bigger payday awaits Baker Mayfield in the 2024 offseason. Mayfield is slated to become a free agent in March. The Bucs have shown a good deal of interest in wanting to re-sign Mayfield, and he’ll either be signed to a multi-year contract extension or he’ll get the franchise tag, which will be approximately $35 million. There is a chance that Tampa Bay doesn’t re-sign him at the start of free agency and instead allows Mayfield to test the market and bring his best offer back to the Bucs so they can match it. Seattle’s Geno Smith signed a three-year extension worth $75 million last offseason, so Mayfield’s deal should be around $25 million per year or perhaps more.
