Bucs Record Watch 2023: Wild Card Round vs. Eagles

Just four years ago, there really wasn’t any playoff history to talk about with any of the players on the Bucs’ current roster. In fact, the 2020 postseason run began with the feeling of “Tampa Bay finally got the likes of Lavonte David and Mike Evans to a playoff game.” Of course, that run ended with the Bucs hoisting the Lombardi Trophy on their home field. Now, with three more playoff appearances in a row after that drought-breaking appearance in 2020, there is some real playoff history to consider for some guys on this roster. Enough of the core guys have stuck around during this run that they’ve been able to climb the ranks and set themselves up for some franchise playoff milestones this Monday night when the Eagles come to Raymond James Stadium. In the regular season finale last Sunday against the Panthers, Rachaad White became the first Bucs running back since Doug Martin in 2015 and the first Buc overall since Mike Evans in 2018 to post 1,500 yards from scrimmage in a single season. That marked just the eighth such occurrence in Tampa Bay history. Chris Godwin also notched his fourth career 1,000-yard receiving season, giving him the second-most in a Bucs uniform behind Mike Evans. And with his goal-line forced fumble, Antoine Winfield Jr. tied Broderick Thomas (11) for the eighth-most forced fumbles in team history. Now, let’s see what kind of playoff milestones could be in play for the Bucs when they host the Eagles on Monday Night Football. ImageBucs WR Mike Evans – Photo by: Cliff Welch/PR Mike Evans With two total touchdowns, Evans will tie Leonard “Playoff Lenny” Fournette (6) for the second-most touchdowns from scrimmage in Bucs playoff history. Three total touchdowns would tie Evans with Mike Alstott (7) for the most touchdowns from scrimmage in franchise playoff history. With 59 more yards from scrimmage, Evans can set a new Bucs record for career playoff yards from scrimmage, passing Leonard Fournette (572). Chris Godwin Godwin needs three receptions to pass Leonard Fournette (28) for second-most playoff receptions in Bucs history. With one receiving touchdown, Godwin can tie Cameron Brate, Antonio Brown and Keenan McCardell (2) for third-most in Bucs playoff history. Two receiving touchdowns would tie Godwin with Rob Gronkowski (3) for second-most. With 53 scrimmage yards, Godwin can pass Keyshawn Johnson (375) for fifth-most in the team’s playoff history, while 64 more would move him ahead of Warrick Dunn (387) for fourth-most. A big 180-yard day would give Godwin the third-most, as he would pass Mike Alstott (502). Godwin needs 59 receiving yards to pass Keyshawn Johnson (375) for second-most playoff receiving yards in Tampa Bay history. Shaq Barrett Barrett needs 1.5 sacks to tie Warren Sapp (5.5) for second-most in Buccaneer playoff history (since sacks became an official stat in 1982). Two sacks, of course, would move Barrett ahead of Sapp and three would tie him with Simeon Rice (7.0) for the most in the franchise’s playoff history. ImageBucs LB Lavonte David – Photo by: Cliff Welch/PR Lavonte David David needs only three tackles to pass Shelton Quarles (55) for third-most in Bucs playoff history (since StatsPass data became available in 1994). With four tackles, David will pass Devin White (56 – active) for second-most. David and White would trail only Derrick Brooks (93) for the most in Tampa Bay’s postseason history. Antoine Winfield Jr. Winfield needs one forced fumble to tie Simeon Rice and Warren Sapp (3) for most in Buccaneer playoff history (since StatsPass data became available in 1994). The 2023 First-Team All-Pro also needs just seven tackles to pass John Lynch (46) for fifth-most in Bucs playoff history and the most by a Tampa Bay defensive back.
