Evans to explore outside offers for his services?

2023 is a banner year for Evans Simply stated: Mike Evans has been, times ten, as good as anyone thought he could be when the Bucs drafted him a decade ago, sitting atop the Buccaneers’ record books and looking down at everyone else. His work and philanthropic ways in the community have only furthered Tampa’s love affair with Mike Evans. So when Mr. Evans talked about how much love he has for the team, the fans, and the Bay Area, it was considered by most fans to be an afterthought that Jason Licht and One Buc would find a way to get a contract done so he could finish his NFL career where it began. I won’t even waste the paper and ink going over all he has done on and off the field — we all know the tale. His 13 touchdowns led the league for receivers during his latest campaign (a contract year). The great ones seem to do that without much effort. Rumors from the NFL Combine So the diehards know that the NFL Combine is in play, currently. Some good stories always surface during this time that NFL big shots are mingling amongst themselves. One story of note from Senior NFL Insider Dianna Russini goes like this: According to Russini, for the first time in his career, Mike Evans wants to “explore his options” in free agency. It almost makes you feel like your date for prom just called and said she was having dinner with another dude and she’d see you for the first dance. Of course, this could just be a ploy to strengthen his position with the Bucs, who are in the midst of discussions with Camp Evans, currently. Or, he may have decided he’s going to go with any offer that is proportionately more than what the Bucs offer him. I guess when we all heard the love for all things Buccaneers crossing Mike’s lips. We thought his re-signing here for a decent offer was merely a formality, figuring that other teams were in better shape to offer him a good bit more than what the Bucs could afford — that Evans, because of him stating that he wanted to finish his career here, would sacrifice a bit of cash to remain a Buccaneer. Because if he does re-sign here, that’s probably what’s going to have to happen. In my opinion, I would expect the Chiefs to back the bank up to Evans’s house when free agency is open. Think about how much better he would make the Chiefs’ offense. Not to mention, he would surely get to meet Taylor Swift. Lord, how could the Bucs compete with that? Time will reveal what the truth is You hear many different things in the course of any NFL team’s season and off-season. Maybe 20% at best of those things are correct. Patience is a virtue, but it’s extremely hard to find that commodity in the homes of Bucs’ fans when it comes to possibly losing the best offensive player the team has ever had. If you are old enough, think back to when Mike Alstott was running over folks, embarrassing them on Sports Center. At that time, did you ever think you would see a more beloved offensive player than he? Well, you have now, and saying goodbye to him as he leaves for another NFL Town is inconceivable. Here’s to hoping we never have to be in that position. Go Bucs!!   The post Evans to explore outside offers for his services? appeared first on Bucs Life.
