Bucs News: Welcome back to the bakery: Baking up a Buccaneers' playoff berth

Image Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images Chef Mayfield has the Tampa Bay Bucs in the driver's seat. Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have clawed their way back from a 4-7 mark, to be the favorites in the NFC South. Tampa has the most movie scene/perfect script ending available to them. One game, at home, against the New Orleans Saints— Winner takes all. For Tampa and the Chef this game couldn't be coming at a better time. The Buccaneers are amidst a four-game winning streak, their largest of the season. The team has found its rhythm on offense and their quarterback has stepped into a zone. The Bucs have not lost a game in the month of December and Baker Mayfield has reinvented himself inside of Dave Canales' system. There's something beautiful about a play caller and a quarterback who are in perfect syncopation— That has been Tampa Bay over the last month. Image Wm. Glasheen/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin / USA TODAY NETWORK Baker Mayfield's play (during Tampa's four-game winning streak) has been highlighted by his perfect passer rating against the Green Bay Packers. Statistically, that game was Mayfield's best as a Buc. The other contests that performance is sandwiched between have received less recognition, but are impressive none the less. Game two, of Tampa Bay's last four— The Chef engineered a game-winning fourth quarter drive, capped off by a perfectly lofted touchdown pass to Cade Otton. That late-game score came in addition to Mayfield's other two touchdowns against the Falcons (One rushing, one passing). Last week, the Tampa Bay Bucs were back at home and they welcomed another Floridian team into Raymond James Stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars were no match for the Chef as Mayfield and co. cooked the cats— Leading at one point by as much as 30 points. Tampa Bay fans cheered as their team's quarterback tossed another two touchdowns without any interceptions. Baker Mayfield's play has been a hot topic for debate this season. Regardless of what anyone's thoughts are, relative to how Tampa should approach their offseason, Mayfield has put the Bucs in a position few thought they could reach. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be heading into week 17 with a third consecutive NFC South title at stake.
