Running Back Ramon Jefferson inks undrafted free agent deal

College Journeyman When Liam Coen was the offensive coordinator at the University of Maine (Black Bears), he recruited Jefferson, out of the Bronx, to play at Maine. As a redshirt freshman, Jefferson rushed for over 1,000 yards and 8 touchdowns in the two only seasons together with the Black Bears. Jefferson was named the Offensive Rookie Of The Year while there. This past season, the two were reunited at Kentucky, where Jefferson played a minute role. Jefferson made a couple of stops before that. To a JUCO school, Garden City Community College. Then on to Sam Houston State, where he helped the Bearcats reach the FSC National Championship game. He rushed for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns and was named a Second-Team All-American that season (2021). Again reunited with Coen, here in Tampa Ramon Jefferson was one of 26 players invited to rookie training camp and was able to impress enough to get a deal signed. He again will share the sidelines with Coen in 2024 with the signing of Sean Tucker last year as a UDFA. The drafting of Bucky Irving this season and now bringing in Jefferson to compete with Rachaad White. The Bucs have set themselves up in a great situation for fixing the rushing situation in Tampa in 2024. Yes, White had a breakout season last year. Yes, the Bucs still finished last in the NFL in the rushing category. Truly, in my opinion, White is a natural third-down back. He’s not the guy you want first up rushing the football. I believe that Sean Tucker is that guy. He checks almost all of the boxes and is an extremely gifted runner. He runs a 4.03/40, can run hard as well, and owns the Big East Single Season Rushing Title for Syracuse (1st team All-American). No matter which way it goes, the Bucs will have added depth and talent to the position. They will need to be a much-improved running team this season to, again, win the division. Go Bucs!!
