Browns News: Browns fans react to landing SEC DPOY Nathaniel Watson

The Cleveland Browns made their fourth pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. With the 206th pick, the Browns selected Nathaniel “Bookie” Watson, a linebacker, from the University of Mississippi State. Watson is a throwback, skull-crushing linebacker. Watson should help the Browns replace longtime linebacker Sione Takitaki who left in free agency. Watson led the SEC in tackles and sacks last season. He was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year. He is a weapon in the trenches, switching between middle linebacker and an end man on the line of scrimmage. He stands at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, and his 81-inch wingspan is in the 93rd percentile for linebackers. He is a vintage thumper who has no problem taking on blocks. Watson’s biggest flaw is moving backward. The big linebacker is stiff and it shows when he’s asked to drop into pass coverage. Next season, Watson will primarily play in obvious running situations as he works on his pass coverage.
